This site is intended to share with people my experiences with trying to grow orchids in a climate that is not-so-perfect for orchids. Riverside California has severe temperature swings following the seasons that will probably kill most orchids unless proper care and protection is provided. Unless specifically stated, materials posted in the blog are from personal observations and experience and are not meant to be educational material. I am not responsible if you kill your orchids. :)

That's gorgeous! Congratulations - it's obviously a very happy plant.
Just a quick question...I noticed yours is mounted on driftwood..How does the watering schedule go? Can't imagine spraying that thing and letting the water drip onto the object its on.
Hi Michael,
When the orchids are on display indoors:
I water them every two to three days depending on the temperature.
I take them outside and drench them with a garden hose and let them dry for a few minutes until no more water drips from the driftwood.
Then I take them inside again.
When the orchids are out of bloom and in the greenhouse, they are watered along with the rest of the orchids. A misting system on a timer maintains 60%-70% humidity inside the greenhouse so they dont need to be watered as much.
I hope this helps.
Wow! Your orchids are simply gorgeous! I enjoy growing orchids too but my level of ''expertise'' can only be applied on Phalaenopsis and Dendrobriums. Hope to learn a gardening tip or two from you:)
